4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days

This is one of the best films I've seen so far this year. It is a difficult film to watch; a taxing chore if you will. It's in Romanian, so you have to deal with subtitles the whole film, which isn't the hardest part. The most difficult part is sticking with these friends on their journey to abort the one woman's baby. However, the act of abortion is illegal in poverty-stricken Romania, so they seek out the services of a classier version of a back-alley-hanger-operation from a man they have never met. The scenes that follow in a drab hotel room are some of the most grueling in the film.

In the end this film is a testament to the tight bond of friendship these two women share. We've all heard of the boundless limits of love, but what the pregnant women's friend goes through to preserve her friend is amazing. And it is a comfy reminder of how safe and spoiled we are here in America. Removing the abortion factor all-together and my personal views on how inherently wrong it is, this film still serves as a reminder of how blessed we are to live where we do.

Rating: 9.5/10
