The Burbs

Quite possibly one of the best films of all time. Ok, quite possibly one of the best comedies of all time. I really, really, really love this flick. I was introduced to it at a very young age and it still holds up to this day. It’s right up there with ANIMAL HOUSE and TOMMY BOY for me. The film follows 3 neighborhood buddies that have too much time on their hands. When “The Klopacs” move in next door they suspect foul play. Every night a large furnace roars from under the house, shooting flames into the air. They see them digging during the middle of the night in the backyard. And there are other awkward moments that they encounter while meeting them.

The best parts of this film come from the actor’s additions. Tom Hanks, the fat friend, the solider, and the young next door neighbor (Corey …) all contribute to the hilarity of this film. If you haven’t seen it, why? No more need to talk about it. There is even a nightmare sequence in the film that is surprising effective – even for a PG rated film.
